Do mobile skins damage your phone?

Updated

Short answer: No. A vinyl skin with the right adhesive protects the back panel from scratches and comes off cleanly without leaving residue. Problems come from cheap adhesive or from pulling the skin off too fast.

Why skins don't harm the phone

EaseWrap skins are 3M-grade vinyl with an adhesive that is made to be removed. It holds firmly while it is on and lets go cleanly when you peel it slowly.

Because the skin covers the back, it takes the everyday scratches from keys, tables and pockets that would otherwise mark the glass or metal.

Heat, charging and signal

A 0.2 mm vinyl layer does not trap heat in a way you would notice, and it does not block wireless charging or mobile signal.

Every skin is cut to your exact model, so the camera, flash, microphones and buttons stay uncovered.

How to avoid problems

Clean the back with an alcohol wipe before applying, so the skin sticks evenly.

When you remove it, warm a corner with a hairdryer on low for a few seconds and peel slowly at a shallow angle, along the phone rather than straight up.

Quick questions

Will a skin leave sticky marks?

No. Peeled slowly, the skin comes away in one piece and leaves no residue.

Does a skin affect wireless charging?

No. The vinyl is about 0.2 mm thin and does not block wireless charging.
